This Tour combines the astounding scenery and riding
roads of Tasmania with an extra 3 days along the stunning Great
Ocean Road and Grampians National Park on the mainland. You'll
collect your bike in Melbourne and catch the ferry to Tasmania.
You'll then ride a circuit of the island seeing all the best things
on the way and then catch the ferry back to the mainland before
riding along the Great Ocean Road and through the Grampians National
Park. This is a spectacular late Spring to early Autumn Self Guided
Tour...

Highlights include...
Devonport - head north-west
along the old coast road for unrivalled views of the Bass Strait,
visit Mersey Bluff's rocky headland and the Aboriginal art and
culture centre.
Bay of Fires and Mount William National
Park - known for its pristine white beaches, turquoise
ocean and brightly coloured gigantic limestone columns, a late
afternoon or early morning visit is an absolutely 'must'! Packed
with wildlife, encounters with wallabies, wombats and kangaroos
are frequent.
Freycinet
National Park - steep granite rocks separate idyllic sandy
beaches like 'Wineglass Bay' and 'Sleepy Bay' with a remarkable
number of wildflowers in spring.
Port Arthur - the convict
settlement on this remote peninsula still existed just 130 years
ago and accounted for 12,000 prisoners! Even if you're not a history
buff you can't help but be astonished by the place.
Hobart - strongly influenced
by its maritime roots, the state capital
and second oldest city in Australia has a waterfront location
to rival that of Sydney.
Mount Field National Park
- easy access to spectacular waterfalls and rainforest makes this
a popular day stop on the way to Strahan.
Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National
Park - dolerite and quartzite mountains, varied flora,
temperate rainforests, waterfalls and, as the name suggests, the
wild rapids of the Franklin River. A cruise from Strahan is one
way of accessing this World Heritage Area.
Cradle Mountains National Park
- explore breathtaking alpine landscapes with rugged mountains,
crystal clear lakes, a rich flora and fauna and the unique walking
tracks through the most famous National Park in Tasmania.

The
Great Ocean Road - Famous as one of the most scenic coastal
drives in the world, words can't describe the wonderful scenery
on this 280km stretch of road close to Melbourne.
The road twists and winds as soon as you set your wheels on it!
There are plenty of small coastal towns to stop for lunch and
a coffee and with fantastic ocean lookouts on one side and the
greenery of the lovely Otway Ranges on the other the views and
riding don't get any better.
It takes longer than you might expect to ride along this road
as there's so much to see. Take a walk in the temperate rainforest
at Maits Rest and visit the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, the Grotto,
London Bridge, The Arch - the list oges on! Keep an eye out for
koalas in the roadside trees but don't forget to watch the road
as well as the spectacular views!
Every motorcyclist should ride this road at least once in their
life!

Grampians
National Park - after riding along the Great Ocean Road
you'll turn north to the lovely Grampians National Park. This
area of granite highlands is jam packed with wildlife, superb
lookouts and beautiful waterfalls.
The Visitor Centre at Halls Gap is incredibly interesting and
will give you an overview of the area. By the time you've ridden
and taken a short walk to the two main lookouts and perhaps walked
to the base of one of the waterfalls you'll need at least a half
day there.
Goldfields - On the way
back to Melbourne take in the quaint, old fashioned towns of Castlemaine
and Daylseford with their lovely bakeries and cafes.
The beautiful countryside sweeps by and makes for a leisurely
ride back to the city.
