point at Byron Bay. There are beautiful beaches, a lively and
friendly small town and a lovely hinterland. Once a centre for
'alternative lifestylers' it has a unique atmosphere. You can
relax on the beach, visit the famous lighthouse with its unrivalled

at one of the many good restaurants.
Waterfall
Way - The Waterfall Way is simply breathtaking with dense
rainforest, countless waterfalls, huge views over New England
National Park and one of the best biking roads in the country
down to a lovely country town at the base of the Great Dividing
Range. This is where you'll stay the night. It's not a long day
on the bike but there's so much to see on the way it takes all
day. If you arrive earlier than expected there's the "Promised
Land' circuit to ride which takes you past crystal clear streams
where you can stop for a refreshing swim on a hot afternoon!
New England - Another incredibly
scenic and winding back road takes you through New England to
Armidale. Famous for its decidous trees in Autumn and unusually
seasonal due to its height it has some of the most scenic roads
in Australia nearby. A good choice of restaurants and country
town feel mean it's a nice town in which to spend the evening
before riding along the Waterfall Way the following day.
Hunter
Valley - The heart of Australia's wine production. Ride
along a stunning, winding back road past the views and gorges
of the Wollemi National Park to the vineyards, restaurants
and wineries of the Hunter Valley. The overnight stay is a short
taxi ride from the most famous restaurants and wineries of the
region. Arrive early and go on a wine tasting tour or save it
for a relaxed evening out amongst the vines!
Blue Mountains - incredible
scenery with huge waterfalls, the second largest canyon on earth,
cable car rides and lovely walks. See the Three Sisters, Wentworth
Falls and a host of other scenic lookouts before riding a circular
route back around the mountains. With so much to see you'll just
meander along and relax. Staythe night at a lovely B&B with
friendly hosts and incredible views over the Hawkesbury River.
Sydney
- The Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, Darling
Harbour, ferry boats to Manly... it's one of the most sceneic
and interesting cities in the world. A great place to visit on
any tour with so much to see and explore. Reliable public transport
takes you anywhere you want to be, whether it's downtown or to
the beach. Is this the food and wine capital of Australia? Melbourne
might have something to say about that so sample the cuisine and
compare it when you end the trip!
NSW Southern Coast - superb
beaches, great scenery and lovely coastal towns can all be found
along this route. It's so green you'll have a hard time believing
you're on the driest continent on earth. Your overnight stop is
at Batemans Bay.
Snowy
Mountains - Huge alpine scenery in Australia? Most people
don't realise that Australia has more ski runs than Switzerland!
Ride fantastic twisting roads with breathtaking scenery past the
towns of the snowfields. The Alpine Way is one of the highlights
of your ride.
Victoria Highlands - continuing
from the Snowy Mountains in NSW, Victoria has its own share of
beautiful scenery and winding roads. The views are almost too
much to take it all in. Keep the pace relaxed or turn it up, the
choice is yours. You won't want to stop riding at the end of the
day!
Grampians
National Park - after riding through the Victorian Goldfields
with their old fashioned towns, bakeries and coffee shops you'll
find yourself in the lovely Grampians National Park. This area
of granite highlands is jam packed with wildlife, waterfalls and
superb lookouts. On really clear days you can even see the Great
Ocean Road 170kms away! You'll have a day here to relax, explore
the local area and perhaps take a walk or two through the peaceful
scenery.
The Great Ocean Road - Rightly
famous as one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world,
words can't describe the wonderful scenery on this 280km stretch
of road leading to Melbourne. There are stunning ocean views on
one side and the Otway Ranges on the other with their temperate
rainforest and eucalypts with koalas. You'll take lots of photographs
so keep the camera handy. It is a superb biking road and one that
every motorcyclist should ride at least once in their life! You
won't know whether to look left or right first, so why not ride
it twice?
Melbourne - a bustling, cosmopolitan
city with loads to see and do. Lygon Street has superb Italian
restaurants for an Al Fresco meal and you can tour the city quickly
and easily on the trams. Take a walk along the Yarra River, have
a coffee or glass of wine at one of the many bars on the way.
There is no difference in costs if you
ride alone or with a pillion.
