Low cost and long term Suzuki DR650, BMW F650GS Dakar, BMW R1150GS, Yamaha XT660R and Suzuki 650V-Strom motorbike rental from Melbourne (now also available from Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin and Cairns - see below)...

You can see Australia on tarmac roads but there's so much more to see if you can travel on unmade roads. A dual purpose bike offers flexibility and is better suited to touring especially in remote areas.

You can hire these bikes for shorter periods on a daily rate but after a month or more it becomes better value to hire on a long term basis.

Long term pricing is unique. Hire for up to 3 months (or longer) at a heavily discounted price with no cost per km. Your bike will be carefully prepared and serviced with new/almost new tyres, chains and sprockets. A comprehensive warranty is included (see details below).

A spares kit, road map and petrol cans are included and you can hire items such as GPS, tents and cooking items if you need them.

NEW!! Collect and/or drop off in any major city!!
You can collect the bike in any major city. The 'home' depot is Melbourne and if you collect and drop off from there then there is no one way fee. If you'd like the bike to or from another city then use the simple table below to calculate the costs.

As an example, If you'd like to collect in Melbourne and drop off in Perth then run along the Melbourne row until you get to the Perth column and you'll see that the one way fee is AU$545 inc GST. If you'd like to collect in Adelaide and drop off in Sydney run along the Adelaide row to the Sydney column and you'll see the one way fee would be AU$479.

Short term one way trips - as this is a long term rental depot the one way fees below are for rentals of over 14 days. If you'd like to rent for 7 days or less and ride from one city to another then double the figures below. If your rental is from 8 to 14 days the multiply the cost below by 1.5 times. e.g. a 10 day rental Melbourne to Brisbane would have a AU$603 one way fee...

The bond
Your credit card will be imprinted with the bond amount but not cashed so that it doesn't affect your holiday budget. Upon return of the bike in good condition your credit card slip will be returned or destroyed.

Helmets, jackets & GPS
We recommend you use your own riding gear for comfort and fit reasons but helmets and jackets are available for AU$77 each per rental should you need them. We must have at least a week's notice and availability is limited. Gloves, trousers and boots aren't available I'm afraid. No lability is accepted for damages or injuries resulting from using the helmet and/or jacket.

A SatNav GPS is available at AU$66 for the whole rental. Stocks are limited and so please book well in advance.

Camping equipment
The depot has as much camping equipment as you'll need including tents, sleeping mats, stoves, cutlery, fold up stools etc. A complete camping set with everything you will need costs AU$110 for the whole rental period.

Warranty and Terms and Conditions

The rental includes a full warranty including all parts and labour. It is a condition of the warranty that you service the bike every 7,500km including an oil and filter change and valve clearance check. Servicing and replacement of consumables such as tyres are the hirer's responsibility. In the unlikely event of a breakdown the cost of transporting your bike to a service centre is not included in the warranty.

All riders must be at least 21 years old and have a valid full motorbike drivers license.

The bike must not have contact with saltwater as on beaches, salt lakes or tidal rivers.

You are welcome to leave luggage you'd prefer not to take on the bike with you at the depot.

Insurance:
Personal Travel Insurance. It is vital that you have appropriate travel insurance, which offers cover while motorcycling. BikeRoundOz accepts no responsibility for a customer's failure to arrange appropriate cover. Some clients have used Lonely Planet's (www.lonelyplanet.com) adventure travel policy but we cannot vouch for it's appropriateness and you should ensure any policy fits your specific situation.

Please also note that cover is void if a helmet is not being worn and panniers are not covered under the bikes insurance policy. Damage to panniers will be deducted from the bond.

The standard insurance excess is AU$3,000 although this can be reduced to AU$1,000 for a small additional payment. Theft always carries a AU$4,000 insurance excess. Fortunately bike theft in Australia is a rare occurence compared with many parts of the world but you should always lock your bike with the locks provided. Panniers are not covered by insurance.

Cancellations and payment timescales:
AU$400 deposit is required at the time of booking and this is not refundable. Full payment for the hire and any extras must be made when you pick up your bike. Cancellation fees are as follows...
- 60 days and more prior to the start of the trip 20%
- 59 to 31 days prior the start of the trip 30%
- 30 days and less prior to the start of the trip 50%

There are no refunds if a motorcycle is returned before the end of the hire period or if a tour is curtailed.

We strongly recommend you cover yourself with travel insurance to ensure that if your personal circumstances change and you have to cancel your booking your costs are covered.

Liability:
BikeRoundOz accepts no responsibility for and shall not be liable in respect of any loss, damage, alterations, delays or changes arising from circumstances outside its or its Contractors' control, such as, but not solely, war or threat of war, riot, industrial dispute, civil strife, fire, adverse weather conditions, terrorist activity, natural and nuclear disaster, technical transport problems, computer malfunction, cancellation of scheduled or charter airlines, closure or congestion of airports or ports, or financial failure of Contractors.

You will be required to sign a contract at the depot when collecting your bike and the legally binding contract for the hire will be between you and Bike Tours which is the official name of the rental company. Please ask for full terms and conditions if you'd like to see them before booking.

Pillion passengers:
Pillion passengers are very welcome on rentals. Only pillions notified to BikeRoundOz and signing an agreement may be carried.
