NEW!! Collect and/or drop off in most
major cities!!
If you collect and drop off in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth
there is no one way fee (yellow in the table below) but if you'd like
to drop/collect in another city then use the simple table below to calculate
the costs.
As an example, If you'd like to collect in Perth and drop in Sydney
then run along the Perth row until you get to the Sydney column and
you'll see that the one way fee is AU$495 inc GST.
IMPORTANT - Short notice trips - as these are long
term rentals the one way fees below assume a booking of over 1 month
long and a booking 3 months prior to the trip. One way fees may not
change but if you are starting your tour in less than 3 months time
and/or it is for less than a month please ask for a confirmation of
one way costs as it may be that bikes have to be shipped to a specific
place just for you...

The bond
Your credit card will be required for the security bond. Upon return
of the bike in good condition this will be refunded to your card.
Helmets, jackets & GPS
We recommend you use your own riding gear for comfort and fit reasons
but helmets are available if you need them. Jackets are availble and
vary in cost depending on where you collect but typical costs are AU$4
per day or less. No lability is accepted for damages or injuries resulting
from using the helmets and/or jackets.
SatNav GPS are available and costs depend on the length
of rental. Please ask for details and as
stocks are limited please book well in advance.
Camping equipment
Camping equipment is available from some depots but you may find
that it is cheaper to buy than it is to rent. Camping is a national
pastime here and so there are camping stores in every major town and
most minor ones.

The rental includes a full warranty including all parts and labour. It is a condition of the warranty that you service the bike every 7,500km including an oil and filter change and valve clearance check. Bikes will be serviced and all consumables will be new/near new when you collect. Standard tyres are 80% tarmac and 20% gravel but can be updated to more aggressive tyres for a cost. Servicing and replacement of consumables such as tyres during the trip are the hirer's responsibility. In the unlikely event of a breakdown the cost of transporting your bike to a service centre is not included in the warranty.
All riders must be at least 21 years old and have a full motorbike drivers license. The 1200GS may require you to be 25 years old depending on experience.
The bike must not have contact with saltwater as on beaches, salt lakes or tidal rivers.
You are welcome to leave luggage you'd prefer not to take on the bike
with you at the depot.
Please read general terms and conditions for motorcycle rental at General
terms and conditions of bike rental
Insurance:
Personal Travel Insurance. It is vital that you have
appropriate travel insurance, which offers cover while motorcycling.
BikeRoundOz accepts no responsibility for a customer's failure to arrange
appropriate cover. Some clients have used Lonely Planet's (www.lonelyplanet.com)
adventure travel policy but we cannot vouch for it's appropriateness
and you should ensure any policy fits your specific situation.
Please also note that cover is void if a helmet is not being worn and
panniers are not covered under the bikes insurance policy.
Damage to panniers will be deducted from the bond.
The standard insurance excess is AU$3,000. Theft always carries a AU$4,000
insurance excess. Fortunately bike theft in Australia is a rare occurence
compared with many parts of the world but you should always lock your
bike with the locks provided. Panniers are not covered by insurance.
Outback Travel:
Outback travel on remote gravel roads can be extremely dangerous unless
you are well prepared and know how to deal with difficult situations.
Every year tourists find themselves in trouble and some even die due
to lack of preparation and knowledge. If you intend to ride on remote
gravel roads or tracks then you MUST inform us of your plans. It may
well be possible to accommodate your route as these low cost, long term
rental bikes are allowed on some of these roads but don't attempt them
without great care and appropriate riding experience. Common requests
are for the Savannah Way, Plenty Highway, Great Central Road, Gunbarrel
Highway, Gibb River Road, Tanami Track, Oodnadatta track and Birdsville
Track. Conditions at the time dictate whether it is possible for you
to take these routes. The Canning Stock Route and any Cape York tracks
are forbidden as you need a guide in these areas. Should your bike break
down for ANY reason on gravel roads then you will be responsible for
recovery costs. Good pre trip advice and preparation is for your own
protection as unnecessary tourist deaths happen every year in these
regions.
Cleaning fee: The red dust that covers the bike on
most gravel roads can be tough to remove especially if left on during
a long trip. If you clean the bike thoroughly as soon as you are off
the gravel road and before returning to the depot there will be no charge.
However, if it is dirty when returned then there is a strictly enforced
AU$200 cleaning fee that is deducted from the security bond before it
is refunded. This policy helps to ensure the bikes are kept in good
condition ready for your rental and those following you. Thank you for
your help with this!
Cancellations and payment timescales:
A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking and this is not refundable.
Full payment for the hire and any extras must be made when you pick
up your bike. Cancellation fees are as follows...
- 60 days and more prior to the start of the trip 20%
- 59 to 31 days prior the start of the trip 30%
- 30 to 7 days prior to the start of the trip 50%
- 6 to 2 days prior to the start date - 80% of the total fee.
- 48 hours or less - 100% of the total fee.
There are no refunds if a motorcycle is returned before the end of the
hire period or if a tour is curtailed.
We strongly recommend you cover yourself with travel insurance to ensure that if your personal circumstances change and you have to cancel your booking your costs are covered.
Liability:
BikeRoundOz accepts no responsibility for and shall not be liable in
respect of any loss, damage, alterations, delays or changes arising
from circumstances outside its or its Contractors' control, such as,
but not solely, war or threat of war, riot, industrial dispute, civil
strife, fire, adverse weather conditions, terrorist activity, natural
and nuclear disaster, technical transport problems, computer malfunction,
cancellation of scheduled or charter airlines, closure or congestion
of airports or ports, or financial failure of Contractors.
You will be required to sign a contract at the depot when collecting your bike and the legally binding contract for the hire will be between you and the depot. Please ask for full terms and conditions if you'd like to see them before booking.
Pillion passengers:
Pillion passengers are very welcome on rentals.
Helmets:
Australian law insists that you wear an approved crash helmet at all
times when riding your motorcycle. BikeRoundOz strongly encourages you
to take your own helmet and cannot accept liability for the condition
of any crash helmet provided by third parties.
